Watch: Ryan McGinley's Beautiful Rebels
Charlotte Free, Ehren Dorsey & more for Edun Spring 2012.
There might be butterflies in your pants and on your tongue, but it's just another day for a model in the hands of Ryan McGinley. As we mentioned last week, McGinley has teamed up with Edun, the eco-friendly label founded by Bono and wife Ali Hewson, to shoot the campaign for Spring 2012 collection 'Beautiful Rebels'. The label's debut campaign, it 8 six native-African species of butterflies fluttering around models Charlotte Free, Dempsey Stewart, Herieth Paul, Ehren Dorsey, Bradley Soileau (the guy from Lana Del Rey's 'Born To Die' video) and David (who strangely seems to be devoid of a surname). See the accompanying video here:
When asked about using butterflies in the campaign, McGinley told NOWNESS that he was "endlessly fascinated by their grace and eloquence" and realised that there is a parallel between humans and butterflies because "we are all on a long journey where we encounter endless turns, shifts, and conditions that cause us to change." Along with the studio images and video above, McGinley has also released a series of short 'blink videos' that bring the portraits to life. See our favourites below:
