In case you were away from the internets this weekend, here is some fashion-related news you may have missed. In what might be the most handsome and well-dressed pairing known to man, Christopher Bailey is set to marry his long-term partner, actor Simon Woods. They have been dating since 2008 and are booked in for a intimate service at the Chelsea Register Office. They will most probably be wearing Burberry — you heard that here first.
American Apparel has appeared on the schedule for Tokyo Fashion Week in October. No word as to what they will be showing, but those knee-high socks and short shorts no doubt go gangbusters in Japan.
In other news, John Galliano's fictional brother, Joe Galliano, appeared on Conan O'Brian 'via satellite' to defend his brother after he lost his prestigious French Legion of Honor last week. The sketch is very silly, but the headwear is truly spectacular. The pièce de résistance? A pirate's hat fashioned from Ugg boots.
In the latest issue of UK Harper's Bazaar, French model, actress and all-round babe Laetitia Casta talks about her recent on-set experience with Choupette — Karl Lagerfeld's fashionable feline — for V Magazine. "So we are shooting on this balcony in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris and I was so f*****g scared that Choupette would step back and fall off and that Karl would hate me forever because I killed his cat," she recalls. "The cat was like, "maaaiooowarrgh" and I was like, "gasp". I did everything with that cat. We even shot on the bed. The whole thing was about Choupette."
Choupette's popularity has clearly gone to her head and she's apparently become a little high maintenance — according to Laetitia she has not one, but two nannies.
And finally, Lara Stone dances around half-naked to promote Calvin Klein's new push-up bra (not that she needs any help in that department). Enough said.
