Zara Mirkin x Glassons 'Winter Chapter' Lookbook
Our contributor styles and shoots the new lookbook.
Forget what you know about Glassons — the NZ label is quickly becoming a covetable clothing company. NY-based Oyster contributor Zara Mirkin was behind their show in Sydney last week and while she was on a recent trip back to her hometown of Auckland they got her to create their new lookbook. While she's known for her styling work, this time Zara not only did the fashion but shot the images herself.
The 'Winter Chapter' lookbook has a distinct 70s vibe and is broken into three parts. The first, 'Dirt Track', is all fast cars, hair braids and a whole lot of denim channeling those iconic early images of Kate Moss shot by Corinne Day (we're suddenly lusting after a face full of freckles).
Chapter two is 'Down By The River' where skinny merino knits, bobby socks, Linda Farrow-esque sunnies and gap-toothed smiles are the order of the day. Bringing it all home is 'Wild West' — pages and pages of coats that make us yearn for cooler climates.
This project reminds us of car trips soaked in sun, holidays on the road and long walks on cool nights. With its soft focus, it's about youth and nostalgia. With most things available online now, and delivery within four hours (if you're living in Sydney), it may just be time to recreate those feelings via a whole new wardrobe of affordable essentials.
