Oyster Archive: ‘Broken English’ Feat. Devon Aoki For Oyster #31

The year 2000.

Welcome to the year 2000. It’s time to celebrate because the world didn’t end abruptly while you were wearing a boob tube and listening to a discman. Your online survey skills were getting serious because you’d just registered for your first Hotmail account (probably littlemissychattagal1511@hotmail.com or similar). You were shopping at Surf Dive ‘n’ Ski, listening to anything and everything from the latest So Fresh: The Hits Of Spring *shudder* and getting your outfit prepared for the Sydney Olympics feat. butterfly clips and lip gloss. Translation: living the dream.

For Oyster #31, our August/September 2000 issue we featured many a slick hairstyle, wrote the word website as “Web site” and also shot the timeless Devon Aoki in a dazzling array of Hussein Chalayan, Alexander McQueen and Manolo Blahnik.

PS: Never has the year 2000 been so relevant beauty-wise as it is now a decade and a half later, so we’ve created a handy how-to beauty guide to help you become your best year 2000 self with some help from MAC.
