Alessandro Michele sure knows how to get our attention. Just a few months ago, the brand announced at long last that Gucci Mane would be the face of their latest collection, and now they’re back with Pre-Fall. Again, Michele has tapped icons. Two of them: legendary model-turned-activist Bethann Hardison and 76-year-old Italian actress Benedetta Barzini. We thought we were obsessed with the AW19 campaign, but this situation might just top it.
Shot in Rome by photographer Bruce Gilden, the lookbook showcases the brand’s new 56-piece collection. Alongside show-stealers Hardison and Barzini, Michelle also tapped a few new faces.
Hardison, who’s been in the modelling industry for over five decades, was hired by the brand earlier this year to work as a consultant. But Michele figured she’d be better in front of the camera for Pre-Fall 20 — and he was spot on.
Of course, the collection is pure Gucci — maximalist and pretty but weird and awkward all at the same time. There’s plaids and sequins and florals and minis and maxis.. and don’t worry, it appears Babushkacore isn’t going anywhere any time soon (A$AP Rocky is amped).
View some of our favorite pieces, as modeled by Barzizi and Hardison…. though, it was hard to choose just a few.
