Selena Gomez Quit Social Media, Again, Definitely

RIP.

It’s hard for a lot of us — well, me — to believe that Kim Kardashian, or at least, Kylie, isn’t the most followed person on social media. In fact, the world’s most followed Instagram award goes to none other than Selena Gomez. Crazy, right?

Well, maybe not. She posts a lot of kissie face selfies.

But what’s even crazier, is the fact that Selena has now gone and basically said ‘Fuck you’ to her title. That’s right, the singer has announced (via Instagram, natch) that she’ll be taking a break from social media.

Under what looks to be a smiling mirror selfie (not a kissy face, for once), Selena writes:

“Mood lol. (I was looking at myself in the mirror -like an idiot!)”

Guess I was right about the mirror! But anyway:

“Update: taking a social media break. Again,” she continues. “As much as I am grateful for the voice that social media gives each of us, I am equally grateful to be able to step back and live my life present to the moment I have been given. Kindness and encouragement only for a bit! Just remember- negative comments can hurt anybody’s feelings. Obvi.”

I mean, yeah. The post got almost 7 million likes. But she definitely has no idea, because she definitely deleted Instagram off of her brand new iPhone, and definitely isn’t snooping on The Weeknd and/or Justin Bieber’s Insta Stories wondering what they’re up to. Definitely not.

But on the real, good for Selena. As we all know, social media can be toxic AF, so good for her for taking a step back for a second.

Though, she better watch the throne. A Kardashian (seriously, any given one) is coming for her followers, for sure.
